Persistent Notification does not change when pausing/unpausing [Android 9, Galaxy s10e]

I am running 1.2.4154 on Android 9, Galaxy s10e Verizon edition, USA.
Recently I noticed that the audio-playing persistent notification (the one that lets you pause and unpause) doesn't change visual when you pause and unpause. Clicking where the "play" triangle is does pause and unpause the playback, but the visual itself does not change. It stays a triangle even after being paused.
